~Prada’s resort wear collection for 2010~ must haves

Prada Resort Wear 2010

JANUARY 13, 2010

Prada’s resort wear collection for 2010- just one of our fave looks
Looking at Prada’s resort wear collection for this winter is an interesting trip into what makes the label so compelling. Always one to surprise, excite and challenge, the label’s resort collection plays restraint, femininity, and good-boy charm. It could only be Prada.
First off we have picture-perfect precision with a single contrasting colour stripe edging cuffs, sweater collars, and dividing the business shirt in two vertical parts. Modesty and charm take shape in bow-tie mimicking shirt collars. These Ivey Leaguers play in bold solid tints- that’s the way it’s done. Modesty, symmetry, and that country club glint.
The party’s over (or rather just beginning) with the arrival of the silk scarf on the scene. Tied to everything and every body part and accessory, the silk scarf plays the colour game and does better, ranging from quiet solid hues to fanciful floral prints and vintage geo shapes and colour mixes. The sweater’s single colour contrast edge here becomes a line of repeated geometric shape. Scarf shorts (or is that a bikini-bottom wrap?) are knotted at the hips, scarves are worn as blouses, blouses cut like a scarf, the scarf dress ends at the ankle where a small scarf ties the ankle to a shoe, scarf pouch in hand. Light, silky, and elusive, what the scarf looses in substance it gains in dazzling print bombs and mass-use as the ‘it’ garment. How many ways can you really wear a sweater? Ha.
Symmetry stays the course with the collection presented on either side of a palette of black flowy looks and becomes literal in perfect deep V cuts and billowy back scoops. ’60s bird’s nests top the models and play nicely with perforated leather bags finished with gold metal. There is no end to the skill play, the cheeky winks back and forward, and the obvious love affair with fashion and fabric.
Happy to sail into this kaleidoscopic sunset with you, Prada.
